In my case it was waking up early for a saturday and getting a run in while it was still warm & sunny!  By the time I got home from the run it was overcast and cold!  Super proud of waking up at 6:30 on a saturday but not super proud of my cheats this week haha.  I ate my regular meals really well! BUT someone brought dunkin donuts to work and the smell of fresh banana bread baking at work won over! Darn it!  (and yes, we are a dental office and bake fresh bread daily - use to be a huge setback for me - now not so much. But every now and then the smell of banana bread is irresistible - the office smells like cake! Automatic sabotage)  Oh well, move on and eat better at the next meal.  I’ve learned I am not capable of 100% paleo.  And as much as I know the benefit is there, I do it the best I can and don’t let setbacks last.
Workouts on the other hand were a success!  Getting back into Bikram yoga has been amazing.  90 minutes to decompress, stretch, and refocus.  Lifted weights, treadmill HIIT, ran 4 miles this morning and even rode my bike yesterday after class. Getting out on the bike was amazing, I can see this replacing distance running easily. Not to mention the B & A Trail here in Maryland is a beautiful trail to start out on.  I did an easy 11 miles and the goal was to just check out how I felt and get use to the gears again.  It has been forever since I rode a bike haha.
You’ll notice this past week has been a hodge podge of workouts.  A little bit of everything!  Which has been so fun, not taking anything too seriously and just enjoying being active.  Vacation and the 10K are getting a little closer so I will start amping up my running preparation.  Class is over in two weeks so this will allow for more interval work and upping my cycling game.  As the race gets closer and the distance gets longer, I find that I am not a distance runner.  I grew up with cross country and track, and that was great then. But after this 10K is over, I find myself wanting to get back to 5K races and working on my speed.  Everyone usually goes the other direction, continuing on with ten miler races and half marathons, but I think I’m comfortable with my 3 mile distance :)
Who knows maybe cycling will win out overall?  But I’ll never let my treadmill HIITs go, love them for some reason!  Now I get to watch the rain come in and not care because I already worked out! Hope you did too! :)
